JHL Constructors Marks Grand Opening of Independence Academy

Thornton, CO – Adams 12 Five Star Schools proudly celebrated the grand opening of its new Independence Academy on Thursday, August 8 along with representatives from JHL Constructors and Hord Coplan Macht (HCM).

The project involved the demolition of the existing Early Childhood Education Center building and the construction of a state-of-the-art 14,400 square foot facility on the existing foundation for students grades 6-12. The site also underwent moderate upgrades and modifications to better serve its community.

The new facility is specifically designed for special education, with careful consideration given to the design and construction of sound-absorbing materials and high-durability, wear-resistant features.

“Our passion and pride lie in being a great school builder for over 37 years,” said Diego Rodriguez, JHL Project Manager. “We are incredibly thankful to Adams 12 for trusting us with delivering this project. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of the entire Adams 12 staff, construction team, IA faculty, design team, and all our trade partners. This project stands as a testament to our commitment to creating safe, supportive, and enriching environments for all students.”

The ceremony commenced in the morning, and the celebration continued into the afternoon. Faculty, staff, students, and parents had the opportunity to tour the new facility during a back-to-school night and open house, marking a memorable start to the new academic year.
